Efudex and My Skin Cancer Journal: Differences Between Basel ...

Skin carcinoma occurs in the outer layer of the skin and is considered as the most common type of skin cancer, with Basel cell Carcinoma as its most common form. It involves the development of a benign tumor that may?appear?on a localized area of the skin. Melanoma is the?malignant?form of skin cancer involving the pigment producing cells in the skin. Its the most dangerous and can spread to other organs in the body. Carcinoma on the skin appears as a small shiny nodule on areas?exposed?to sunlight, usually on the neck, arms, face, head, and hands. It may appear as raw dry skin . Spreading to other parts of the body is rare but the most common form of skin cancer. Melanoma usually grows with the?appearance?of a small pigmented skin and likely to occur on a pre-existing pigmented area on the skin. It can appear from flat and irregular brown or black spots to a raised area of dark colors. It can come and go and appear to get well, then bleed, ooze, or grow.Melanoma takes the more progressive type and can spread to other parts of the body.?

My last biopsy was Basel cell Carcinoma. The two?surgery's?on my?forehead?were?Melanoma? enclosed in their sack form. The one on top of my head was also Basel Cell?Melanoma?for which I had a sweep of the top of my head 2?centimeters?deep and skin?grafts.?

I was left? today with an Anonymous comment on this blog which read:?

?At least 2 times you refer to "Basal Cell Melanoma". I am under the impression that Basal Cell and Melanoma are two different a things. I'm not sure it's accurate the call it "Basal Cell Melanoma". Thanks for your time to share your experience.

I am not an expert on Cancer, nor a medical professional, and do not claim to be. ?I do know that I have spent way to many painful times in the doctors office and many dollars. I have been told way to many times that I will fight skin cancer the rest of my life. I do not blog my personal journey on treatments to mislead anyone seeking information on their own?medical?experiences. I blog?about my ??experiences?to help me deal with the mental stress and thoughts that any cancer can play on ones mind.

Lets face it.....CANCER IS CANCER, no matter if it is Carcinoma or Melanoma.

I hope I answered Anonymous's answer.
